VIRKILL® is the first fabric made with copper nanoparticles that provide an intrinsic antiviral activity over 99.9%.
Find out moreVIRKILL® is designed and manufactured in Italy by Italtex S.p.A., a textile company located in Lake Como district that has been active for more than 70 years in the design and production of fabrics always being innovation and research oriented.
VIRKILL® is tested according to ISO 18184:2019 International Standard for the determination of its antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 virus (cause of COVID-19 syndrome): test has certified the Mv value (antiviral activity) equal to 3.25, corresponding to an inactivation of virus over 99.9%.
The ancient Greeks were the first to discover the sanitizing power
of copper thousands of years ago. Since then, copper has been used as a biocide by Celts, Hindus,
American pioneers, and Japanese, as well as by inhabitants of Africa and Asia, for treating
sores and skin diseases.
Today, soluble copper compounds are used as bactericides in
paints to render surfaces self-disinfecting, on ship hulls to decrease friction by reducing
barnacle accumulation and microbial biofilm formation, in hospital water pumps to control Legionella
in water distribution systems, and in agriculture as an algaecide, fungicide or molluscicide.
Copper has also been shown to inactivate a variety of enveloped and nonenveloped viruses, such as bacteriophages, bronchitis virus, poliovirus, herpes simplex virus and HIV-1.
Thanks to its own distinctive features VIRKILL® is suitable in many sectors.
